Peppered Moths Prove Evolution

A common example of evolution that we see given is of a change that happened to a variety of peppered moths in England, another similar evidence books give is on snail shells changing patterns. They both follow the same idea, but we will focus on the moths. We see that in Britain during the Industrial Revolution, a local variety of moth camouflage coloring went from a peppered white, black, and gray, to largely only darker gray and black tones. We need to realize in this change that we started with a moth and we ended with a moth. During the Industrial Revolution, Britain had a smoke and smog problem. As ash and soot covered tree bark, the whiter moths could not hide and were eaten by predators. This caused the allele (collection of DNA coding for a trait) for the white pigment to become rarer. The once common DNA coding for the white coloration has been deleted. Textbooks will look at this as evidence of evolution and proof of descent from a common ancestor. We did not have anything new added. The moths already had the DNA to be gray and black, the coloration for white simply became rarer in their DNA. These are the changes we see in nature, and expect to see as Christians as the creation continues to groan. We are not seeing newness created, but we are in this example seeing harshness in nature lead to further destruction and limitation on a creature's DNA and genetic variety.

About half of the textbooks I have for some reason have a question asking students about how humans and pufferfish have a common ancestor. It is manipulation when we ask youth this and give these moths “evidence.” Both are bloated and filled with hot air. Yes, pufferfish are actually filled with water. Just laugh at the bad joke. Please.
