Unprogressive Christianity

We can also call this “Compromised Christianity.” People want to be liked. You and I naturally want others to like us. When we take this approach to Christianity, we turn it into a different religion. True Christianity does not naturally fit into this world. People do not want to be told their sins are wrong. They do not want to believe in an eternal Hell. They do not want a God that is truly holy. They want a god that does not exist in the Bible. This has resulted in Christians trying to downplay what God says. When we take this “progressive” Christian approach of saying “God didn’t really say that,” we are not being like Jesus. We are being like Satan. Progressive Christianity say that God approves of homosexuality when His Word shows He does not. Progressive Christianity says that Hell is not eternal, when the Bible says that God’s judgement is eternal. Progressive Christianity says that God is just like you, when the Bible calls us to deny ourselves and be like Christ. Progressive Christianity is redefining what God says to make it “easier” to accept. Trying to make the Bible more palatable to non-Christians is not sharing Christ. It is being like Satan in the garden asking Eve, “Did God really say?”

We are not being a true witness to Christ when we lead someone to a false Christianity, a Christianity that does not exist in the Bible. Progressive Christianity will lead people to a Jesus that does not exist. It also causes the outside world to believe that Christians either do not know what they believe or that Christians want to conform to the world instead of having the world conform to Christ. Progressive Christianity is ashamed of the Gospel.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” - Apostle Paul
